Our fabulous 1st grade drama group performed “Five Little Monkeys (Jumping on the Bed)” at GSCS Literacy Days and took FIRST place! 🎭🏆
They will perform again tomorrow at Griffin RESA, where first-place winners from surrounding districts will take the stage. We are so proud of their hard work, teamwork, and confidence!

🎂🎉 Happy Birthday, Mr. Hawkins!
We celebrated by going everything but birthday! Classes and staff members brought non-birthday balloons, creating a wild balloon jungle in his office!
And if that wasn’t enough fun, he also received framed team photos in true vintage JCPenney family-photo style—timeless, dramatic, and absolutely priceless. 📸

GSCS continues to work closely with Spalding County EMA to monitor the weather conditions. The latest forecast indicates that ice accumulation is possible in Griffin-Spalding County. Out of an abundance of caution, no staff or students should report to school/work on Monday, January 26. A decision regarding Tuesday will be made on Monday. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please use caution and stay safe.

GSCS is working closely with Spalding County EMA and weather services to monitor conditions related to a weather system that is expected to bring cold temperatures, precipitation and possible ice to our area over the weekend. We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide any updates regarding school operations for Monday via our parent communication system (phone message, text, e-mail, app), social media outlets and the district website at
