Christine Briggs, Retha Hollis Brown, Robbie Burke, Pamela Calhoun Jackson, Paula Calhoun Sanders, Jan Carriker and Emily Wilson will represent the thirteenth class of Griffin-Spalding Educator Hall of Fame inductees. The 2025 class will be inducted at the Griffin-Spalding Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, October 21, at 6 p.m. in the board room located at 216 S. 6th Street.

GSCS Federal Programs is excited to announce the 2025-26 Parent University. The university will offer a series of workshops and resources to help parents support their children's educational success and development. All GSCS schools & offices will be closed October 13-17, 2025, for Fall Break.

Today was the first training session for the new GSCS Operation RESET program, which aims to reset expectations among all stakeholders. The first cohort of 20 includes middle school math and ELA teachers. The cohort will participate in two more in-person professional development sessions with occasional small group virtual conferences in between. The trainer for this program is Professor Dr. Megan Mowbray of the Georgia State University Master of Education Program.
Sam Allen, a Griffin High School Graduate (c/o 1954) and a successful investment banker and businessman, has made a generous donation, creating a 1.1-million-dollar designated endowment through Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education. This endowment will create annual funds to be used for professional development to help add new tools to the toolbelts of our teachers.
This is just the beginning of the program, intended to have a long-term positive impact. This endowment will provide funding to annually invest in education in Griffin-Spalding County forever.
GSCS is grateful for this investment in the future of our public education system and is excited about this impactful opportunity!

The 2025-26 GSCS Teachers of the Year were recognized at the Kiwanis Club of Griffin luncheon on Sept. 24. GSCS District Teacher of the Year Jodi McGavin shared her educational journey and story. Thank you, Kiwanis Club of Griffin, for celebrating these exceptional educators!

The Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education (PIE) raised almost $25,000 during its 24th annual golf tournament to benefit the teachers and students of the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS). Thirty-six teams played in the tournament held at the City Park Golf Course on Friday, September 26. Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund classroom grants, field trip grants and teacher tuition reimbursement scholarships. This year’s first-place team was SRS Inc.; the second-place team was Jackson Road Elementary; and the third-place team was the Griffin Exchange Club. Read more: https://5il.co/3qh4a

They work behind the scenes to schedule games, support coaches, ensure safety, and most importantly, create opportunities for student-athletes to grow and succeed. Cougar Community we are starting Extended Learning for the month of September!! Invited students will be sent home with an invitation today! Extended Learning will be from 4:30 - 5:30pm starting on September 4th and ending on September 13th. Parents will need to provide students transportation.
