Welcome to Kennedy Road Middle School! I am Justin Sumner, and I am excited to be a part of the Kennedy Road family as one of your Assistant Principals. As I embark on my first year at this incredible school and within Griffin-Spalding County Schools, let me share a little bit about my journey thus far.

My educational voyage began in the classroom as a passionate social studies teacher, a role I cherished for eight years at Ola High School in McDonough, GA. During my time at Ola High, I also had the privilege of serving as the girls' basketball coach for seven years, where I learned the value of teamwork, dedication, and mentorship.

My academic journey led me to Gordon State College, where I earned my bachelor's degree in history. Subsequently, I continued my passion for education, earning a master's degree in secondary education from Georgia Southern University. My commitment to educational excellence led me to the University of West Georgia, where I obtained my specialist in secondary education and an educational leadership certificate, equipping me with the skills and knowledge necessary to serve as an educational leader.

In my personal life, I recently embarked on a new chapter as a husband to my beautiful wife, Renée. Together, we share our home with a lively bunch of pets, including two dogs, Archie and Daisy, as well as three cats, Mickey, Madi, and Oscar. These furry companions bring joy and laughter to our lives daily.

Beyond my dedication to education, I'm a fervent Atlanta Braves fan, reveling in the triumphs and tribulations of our home team. I believe that sports teach valuable life lessons, including resilience, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.

As your Assistant Principal, I firmly believe in the principles of servant leadership, and I am committed to supporting the growth and development of Kennedy Road Middle School. Our school is not just a place of learning but a community where students, educators, and families come together to nurture the minds and futures of our students.

I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you as we work collaboratively to create an environment where every student can thrive and succeed. Together, we will continue to build upon the strong foundation that Kennedy Road Middle School represents, making it an even better place for our students to learn, grow, and excel.
